Wednesday Writing: The Story Of Matariki

Matariki is a cluster of stars representing the maori New year. It all started with Papatuanuku and Ranginui after they split up and made the children of Matariki.

But Puanga (The Red Star) and Takarua (The Blue Star) were hating the way that Matariki and her sisters were wandering around having nothing to do. Then their parents decided to give them something to do that they will keep on doing for the rest of their life. To represent the Maori New Year.

So Matariki told all her sisters to go to their spots and make the Matariki cluster. It’s amazing how you can get to see the sisters that we know and love today.

After the separation of Papatuanuku and Ranginui, Tawhirimatea took his eyes out and threw his eyes into the sky and which is why Matariki can be the eyes of god.

Task Description: I wrote the story about Matariki. Happy Matariki!
